Okay, Aries'll explain this.
Aries is a somewhat twisted individual, largely because Aries has something of a thing for anthropomorphic art, transformation, stuff of that sorts.
Aries doesn't put HIMSELF through it, usually, heh. No, no, Aries is comfortable enough with his strange Ariesian identity. Some, though, like Rappie, aren't comfortable with their roles as silly little humans.
They take on animal traits to help them define theirselves, yielding something between a human and an animal.
See why Aries likes it?
So the question is, if you could anthro out, what would prefer to be crossed with and why?

Dragon for me. Dragons like Smaug and Dromar are forever etched in my memory as some of the coolest fantasy creatures ever. Dragons rule!!!

Heh... I'm actually kinda surprised that you started this, Aries.
I think my responce is rather obvious.

Gryphon actually. Can't breathe fire like dragons, but I'm still capable of eating you. Not to mention, I got a beak AND claws.

Wolf. Smart enough to hunt in packs, skilled enough to hunt alone. And feared by myths and legends.

Dragon, preferably gold, black, or blue.
The way I see it, the dragon is the ultimate creature.
Strength: Most dragons you see or read about are very big, and thus, very strong. Dragons get a lot of fear and respect because of their strength.
Intelligence: The dumbest dragons I've ever read/seen are those dragons in the Dragonriders of Pern series. A lot of the dragons are capable of reasoning, planning, and other stuff that comes with intelligence.
Power: Not just strength, dragons also have other fine powers! Flight and a breath attack are common, but I've seen telepathy, teleportation, magical sense (kinda like the DBZ ability to sense Ki, but with magic power instead), use the Force (I swear to Burning), restore life, spit more than just fire, and I'm sure I'll think of more things.
Survivability: Dragons didn't get to be feared and respecting by dying by the truckload. They're built to last. They get long life-spans, well-armored hides, and previously mentioned strength and abilities.
Appearance: Aren't dragons just some of the coolest creatures you've ever seen? Maybe it;s just me, but I find those scaly hides, the bestial, reptialian faces, claws, and leathery wings to be just too awesome for anything else to compare to!

Funny. Aries kinda tagged onto the idea of being a tiger.
It's overdone from time to time, yes...but it does reveal a little about your personality, doesn't it?
Draconics are known for being some serious free-thinkers, while power players like Bear and Lion anthros are pretty much run-of-the-mill...
Y'know, honestly, take a look at what you put down, or what you have in your head. Now think about yourself real hard.
Honestly, Aries is willing to put money down, that the trait most commonly associated with the critter you picked is the trait you are decidedly lacking in, or want to make yourself better at.
Aries'll admit it, Aries is a seriously brilliant individual, and Aries reasons that there are only three reasons Aries has not gotten laid yet. One, Aries has not been looking. Two, Aries has no car. And three, and this is the cruncher, ARIES WOULD LIKE HIMSELF TO BE MORE ATTRACTIVE. And not like effite-attractive. Aries wants that kind of power-attraction. People usually associate that with tigers.
Makes some scary sort of sense when you think about it, don't it?

Hmmm. I know some people go with anthros cuz of traits they lack, but I picked Raptor cuz of the traits I have.
1) Intelligence
2) physical ability (I may not be a jock, but I'm not out of shape either, and I am fairly coordinated)
3) bloodlust (this isn't a good thing, I know, but I must admit that I like seeing violent things. Don't do any stuff like this irl, of course, but I like violent literature, movies, video games, etc.)
and so on and so forth.
