Jesus, Aries can't even see the bottom of this thing...God knows how far down it goes...and the atmosphere will likely push whatever plasma got up here down a little...and Aries doesn't know how much 'ammunution' those things hold, but it certainly won't be enough here...He frowns. Which means that he just cut off his most expedient entryway to get to Aries...which makes for a game of cat and mouse in here.He swallows, then begins calling up a sensor report to get an idea of what some of the other tunnels look like. Not exactly what Aries had in mind, but not bad, uyh... Aries, little Aries....come on out and play with unkie Retal. I won't hurt you...much. Retal thought to himself with a smile. In reality, Retal already knew exactly where Aries was. He could could feel his presence, thanks to the increase in sensitivity via the psychoframe. Retal once again thanked his luck that Aries didn't have much experience fighting newtypes. But newtype or not, going in there is suicide. I know where he is, but I don't know the routes to get to him. He is probably entrentched by now, so it'll be difficult to root him out. But as always, the Retaliation gives me another option than what Aries is hoping I will do.Just as Retal finishes the thought, the core fighter shudders as it docks with the Gundam, once again forming the complete Gundam Retaliation. It drew it's 280mm white bazooka as Retal smiled. This game of cat-and-mouse is about to abruptly end, Aries. Goodbye. Adios. Arrivaderci. Time to die...Retal aims the bazooka at the chasam nearest to where he feels Aries, and promptly pumps a shell into it. Argent flames burst from the chasam and most certainly through the shafts as well as Retal moved to another chasam opening and pumped a bazooka shell into it. He continued this process until all five bazooka rounds had been expended. Meanwhile, the fin funnels were also doing the same thing, zipping around the chasams and melting any structural supports they could find with their mega particle cannons... And yet again, Aries. I bid thee farewell... Retal thought to himself as he combines his two beam rifles to form avenger mode, its wide-beam setting. He aims it directly at where he feels Aries's presence, and squeezes the trigger, the high-power energy beam lancing into the thick hide of the asteroid and beginning to melt through it...

Newtype or not, Aries feels the vibrations as the sattelite is quickly pounded with each of the bazooka blasts, rocks beginning to shake loose and floating about.
He reacts after the first, quickly understanding that Retal would use his Gundam's sheer strength to try to burn through to him.
But if Retal is the cat, Aries is the mouse...in Rodent Heaven.
He slides his throttle up, dropping back into the chasm above the plasm cloud, which is roiling with the tons of rock being dropped on it. Dodging this way and that, he sideslips past most of the rock, then dives into one of the mine shafts he had been scanning, slipping down into the depths of the sattelite, away from the habitation area.
Rock does not slag easily, however, he knows.
And speed is what keeps a pilot alive.
Trusting to fate, he punches his throttle up to full, rocketing deeper into the mine.

In the area Aries just exited, four fin funnels suddenly race into the scene, and they turn their attention to Aries with deadly intent as three move into covering position and one locks on to Aries and fires 10 MW beams at him... Check...and mate. Retal thinks to himself as his beam rifle continues to burn through the outer surface of the asteriod...

(Wait just a second, how in the heck did you get those in exactly? The chasm is A) flooded, b) accessable right off only through the shaft that's still flooded. Without spending a few minutes of looking, you don't have a way in. And then you have to guide those funnels on full-speed through the chasm itself which would, again, likely demand most of your attention to get through the twists and turns in the tunnel, which you can't guarantee isn't blocked. Plus that, Aries's sensors would have picked up their movements at the very least on the way in.)

Plus that, Aries's sensors would have picked up their movements at the very least on the way in.) OOC: Umm, recall a few posts ago. The fin funnels joined in on the bombardment of the asteriod from its interior, blasting through support structures. As for A) the plasma will not affect the fin funnels, they have VERY heavy grounding against such things, given the danger of the cloud being released in such proximity to the Gundam or the funnels. They are designed to be operable within the plasma cloud. You also forget that by now, the plasma has dispursed to a quite significant degree. The cloud only remains cohesive for a matter of seconds, as the funnels are designed to be wrapped around a target before they use the plasma. Here's the part of my post that mentions them: And as for B) remember, you blasted a hole through the main chasam to where you are now. To get into there from the main chasam is not that hard. And from there, all I have to do is follow my impression of you. The funnels act independantly of their pilot half of the time. They are guided on their own, the pilot only gives them their mission and general orders, like shoot him or get out of the way of the attack. You didn't notice the sensors, and the entire point of that attack was to flush you out of the asteriod. You simply failed to noticed them.

(*cracks his knuckles.* Allright...you're validated...that doesn't mean you're gonna win...)
His sensors scream at him, two messages at once.
Shit!! Funnels on Aries's tail and... he reads the second message. Oooh.
As the fin funnels open fire on Aries, he pitches his craft directly into a roll in the tight confines of the tunnel, the shots slipping horribly close to his craft, before he pulls a seemingly idiotic manuever.
He reverses thrust, zipping between the fin funnels, clipping one and sending it spinning, all of which keep boring on ahead of him...
...and into the collapsed part of the tunnel ahead of him, with no time to react and inertia working against them even so.
He keeps his foot on the gas, zipping close to the entryway of the tunnel as the funnels explode, pushing debris out...into clear space.
Aries looks up.
Shorter than Aries thought.
He throws his throttle back up again and zips out of the sattelite, now with most of an asteroid between him and the Retaliation.
He grins. One contingency down...come an' get it, ace...
(If this is forcing the hit, Aries can revoke, but Aries IS extremely outgunned here, Aries thinks he should point out...)

(*cracks his knuckles.* Allright...you're validated...that doesn't mean you're gonna win...) (If this is forcing the hit, Aries can revoke, but Aries IS extremely outgunned here, Aries thinks he should point out...) OOC: I can let the called hit slide because, I'm going to make a kind of called hit too. Again, you've gotten yourself caught in a trap, and now we enact it. Thank you for doing exactly as I had hoped. I remind you of this: IC: As Aries moves backwards, Retal smiles as his fin funnels did exactly as they were instructed. Although he hadn't expected this exactly, he had expected Aries to try and use his suit's maddening speed to get him past his funnels, and he didn't want that to happen. Thus the reason why three fin funnels had kept a covering position, by being ready to generate their beam barrier. The instant he moved, their field generated, but because of the suit's blinding speed, Aries smashed right through the barrier, knocking them away and causing them to explode, but when Aries had hit them, one critical factor played into the scenario: with only three fin funnels to generate the field, no fin funnel was at the center, which means that the barrier was shaped like a pyramid, with the point aimed directly at Aries when he moved backwards. OOC: The damage wouldn't be crippling, but you've gotta take some damage from that, either directly or indirectly...those are awefully tight quarters.... IC: The instant Aries cleared the asteroid and was out in the open, flames pursueing him out, Retal kicked his thrusters into full and rocketed right for him, opening both 90mm forearm gatlings and spraying 20-round bursts at Aries...

Aries looks back and hisses, then, still rocketing at full speed, he pulls up into a stoop, the rounds blasting under him. But even as Retal begins to shift to correct his aim, the TaurVercus immediately snaps to starboard, rocketing into the heavy debris field just outside the sattelite.
Aries did not have time to check the damage diagnostics rolling up on his port monitor. Then again, he had an excuse. His piloting skills were barreling full-out as he began dodging space junk, smaller asteroids, and other assorted crap, some of which was not exactly stationary.
If Aries can get him to commit, his larger size and slower speed should seriously disadvantage him, and Aries can use the confusing nature of the terrain to...
Then his No. 1 vernier fuel injector assembly froze, the thruster belt destabilized and the port engine exploded.
Aries had no way to predict it, and had never seen it coming, until it finally crashed in on him that he should have checked his damage display. Screaming a line of old school American curses, he pulls back on his sticks to avoid smashing into a large mining pod, pushes down to dodge the space rock above him, then cuts the power to his verniers, shuts down the port fuel lines, and shifts the TaurVercus out of High Output mode.
His thrusters begin to fire, slowing his speed and directing his feet to accept something of a landing.
The TaurVercus, its left engine mount shredded and sparking, lands and goes down to one knee on a fairly large and stable asteroid inside the debris field. Aries hisses to himself.
Okay. This seriously limits Aries.
The TaurVercus slips its beam machine gun onto its hardpoint, then reaches up as the shoulder armor above it spits out an inactive beam saber, which he quickly snaps to a cerulean life.
Better go out in style, then.

Perfect for a good old fashioned duel. However, he's counting on restricting my mobility, so we must lose extra weight...Retal ejected the 280mm Hyper Bazooka and the 100mm machinegun. He watched them spiral away for a bit before reacing the Retaliation's hand upwards to the Gundam's right shoulder and drawing forth his own beam saber, the scarlet blade igniting to lifew with a Star Wars snap-hiss. Retal ignited his thrusters and hurled into the asteriod field at max speed, his newtype senses and the Retaliation's UBP's helping him to clear any obstacle in his path via an amazing display of precision flying. A bit of showing off for his comrade in war, and soon to be victim. After several minutes of asteriod dodging, Retal arrived at Aries's new asteriod, and he opened up the 90mm gatlings and opened fire with three 5-round bursts...

Aries shakes his head, then simply sidesteps to the left, the three salvos whizzing past him and chewing into the rock.
He looks up at Retal.
"Aries thinks we can do without the bullets. They've got all the finesse of a fart joke."
The TaurVercus tightens its grip on its beam saber, then puts its right foot back, putting its left side and shield forward, bringing the beam saber up and back.
"We finish this old school, okay?"

The 90mm gatlings and the torso beam machinecannons are ejected, the leader funnels are also detatched and spin out into space. Retal draws his second beam saber, and he held one beam saber in a underhand grip, the other one he pointed right at Aries. "You've made the challenge, make your move."

Aries does so, his teeth gritting, his voice launching into a feral cry as the remaining thrusters on the TaurVercus launch the Mobile Suit up at the Retaliation.
As he nears the Gundam, he pivots his Mobile Suit over to the right and launches a horizontal stroke at the Gundam's midsection, his shield raised over his own.

As he nears the Gundam, he pivots his Mobile Suit over to the right and launches a horizontal stroke at the Gundam's midsection, his shield raised over his own. Retal counters fast and hard. The instant Aries pivoted, Retal pivoted as well, to his own right, bringing his right hand saber in at Aries's in a top-to-bottom vertical slash intended to knock Aries's saber downwards. He then finished his roll, bringing his left side up and around to face Aries. Aries stabbed his saber in at Aries's little shield...
